How old does my child need to be to attend with a parent?
The minimum age for a child to attend with a parent is 8 years old. We believe its important for children to get outdoors as young as possible. In our classes we use knives, at the age 8, with a parent, your child will be safe.
Do you offer private classes?
Yes we sure do. We offer private classes of any size, and skills of your choosing. There are many people that prefer privates classes over open group classes, for one, you learn more in this setting. Contact us below for more details.
Can my child attend class without a parent?
Yes, your child can attend classes without a parent at the age of 16 or older. In some cases we will allow a child to attend under 16 without a parent, only if you are given permission from our staff, and you have spoken on the phone with us.
What knife do I need?
A good wilderness knife should be the following:
-3-5in blade
-full tang design for strength
-non-serrated
-sharp spine to use with firesteel
-made from a quality carbon steel
-sheath that retains the knife even when upside down
- make sure your knife is SHARP
Do I need to be physically fit to attend a class?
Some of our classes do require hiking and walk off[-trail through the forest, this is primarily in our land nav courses. The rest of our classes have very short walks or hikes in the woods. If you have any questions regarding this, just send us a line below.
Are your classes overnight?
All of our level 2-3 classes are overnight. Once you signup for a class through the website, you will be emailed a class confirmation and a gear list. If you have any questions regarding sleeping outdoors, or about the gear list, let us know.
